The Riu Baobab hotel was the victim of a robbery this Saturday, late in the evening. Money taken, exchanges of fire between police and bandits. But there were no injuries.
The RIU Baobab hotel was attacked on the evening of Saturday January 18 to Sunday January 19 around 2 a.m. by armed men. There were exchanges of fire between gendarmes and the attackers who fled, taking money with them. But no injuries were reported.
According to Seneweb, the attackers “succeeded in keeping the security personnel at bay”. It took the prompt intervention of gendarmes from the Nianing local brigade to put an end to this armed attack.
The bandits, around twenty, according to Seneweb, dispersed throughout the hotel. An exchange of fire with the police ensued. “The criminals cut the hotel’s fences to escape. They took money. But we cannot assess the damage at this stage of the investigation”
The Riu Baobab Hotel is located in the Mbour department. The hotel reception is located by the sea in Pointe-Sarene, 18 km from Mbour, 50 km from Blaise Diagne international airport and 100 km south of Dakar.
