Trailing after Willem Geubbels’ success in the 47th minute, the Garnet owe their salvation to Steve Rouiller. The defender armed a perfect volley from a Timothé Cognat corner to equalize in the 70th minute. But this sharing of points does not really match the ambitions of a title contender.
Without its captain Jérémy Frick but again with its no. 10 Alexis Antunes, Servette FC largely dominated the debates. Only like Miroslav Stevanovic, he lacked efficiency in the last gesture. The Bosnian wasted several opportunities which would have offered a completely different scenario to this meeting. The recruitment of a scorer seems imperative if the Garnet really intend to play for the title.
Coming above all not to lose, FC St. Gall wanted to live immediately on its achievements after the success of Geubbels in an action which saw the former Sédunois Bastien Toma and Chadrac Akolo to their advantage. We would have liked the two men not to be so restrained afterwards.
