Why talk about magic, when it's desire that made the difference. Bourgoin-Jallieu (N3) takes out Olympique Lyonnais. Deserved. Troyes (L2) beats Stade Rennes. Deserved. Saint-Brieuc (N2) beats Annecy (L2). Deserved too.
After the exploits of this Wednesday, January 15, 2025, all eyes of amateur and professional clubs were riveted towards the draw this Thursday. Between shocks and gala posters, this promises a spectacle for the next round which will take place next February 4 and 5.
The posters
- Saint-Brieuc (N2) – Nice (L1)
- Bourgoin-Jallieu (N3) – Stade de Reims (L1)
- Troyes (L2) – Brest (L1)
- Le Mans (N) – Paris Saint-Germain (L1)
- Toulouse (L1) – Guingamp (L2)
- Cannes (N2) – Dives-Cabourg (N3)
- Strasbourg (L1) – Angers (L1)
- Lille (L1) – Haguenau (N2) or Dunkirk (L2)
Gala posters for fans
The “little ones” that are Saint-Brieuc and Bourgoin-Jallieu will try a new feat since they will respectively host Nice and Reims, two generally successful Ligue 1 teams.
There will inevitably be an amateur team in the quarter-finals with the duel between Cannes and Dives-Cabourg, N2 and N3, who will face each other on the Riviera. PSG, after being scared against Espaly in the 16th round, will have to face Le Mans (N) in Sarthe.
A single 100% Ligue 1 poster with a Strasbourg-Angers match. Note: Lille does not yet know who its opponent will be, since the round of 16 between Haguenau and Dunkirk was postponed due to frost. The match will be played on Wednesday January 22.
