Man seriously injured after throwing Christmas tree from balcony

A forty-year-old reportedly suffered serious injuries after being impaled while trying to throw a Christmas tree from the top of his balcony on Sunday in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough, in Montreal.

A call was made to 911 around 11:15 a.m. regarding a fall on Rue de , said Urgences-santé spokesperson Julie Gaulin.

Emergency services quickly arrived on scene and found injuries to his upper and lower body.

The individual was transported to a hospital center “in emergency mode,” added Ms. Gaulin. The life of the elderly man in his 40s is feared.

The whole thing would be accidental, mentions the Police Service of the City of Montreal (SPVM).

Urgences-santé and the SPVM have not confirmed the circumstances of the event.

However, according to our information, the person fell from the third floor of an apartment when he wanted to throw a Christmas tree outside the building. The man then allegedly fell with the decoration and impaled himself in the fence on the ground.

The man suffered a fractured skull, according to our information.
