The Canada Border Services Agency nabbed a suspected manufacturer of semi-automatic rifles he was printing at his home after intercepting falsely declared packages of 3D manufacturing equipment destined for his address in Ontario .

“Border services officers are working around the clock to curb the import and export of contraband goods. On November 12, Canadian border services officers executed a search warrant at the home of Reza Nezamabadi, 33, of Aurora, after being notified of suspicious packages destined for this address, according to a press release.

Indeed, employees of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) allegedly intercepted various falsely declared packages which contained “various prohibited firearm devices and 3D manufacturing equipment, generally used to manufacture firearms AR-15 type (semi-automatic rifles),” we can read.

During the search, officers allegedly found four 3D-made firearms, two 3D-printed devices, a 3D-printed restricted firearm, two 3D printers, several silencers and silencer parts as well as various other tools, accessories and parts for the AR type of weapon.

The 30-year-old now faces nine charges of manufacturing, smuggling, importing and possessing prohibited firearms.

He is expected to appear in court in Ontario on Wednesday.

“I would like to thank the CBSA and York Regional Police for their efforts to seize illegal firearms, printers and prohibited parts as part of this investigation,” responded for his part Public Safety Minister David J. McGuinty in writing.
