This entity, with an initial capital of 300,000 dirhams, will have the mission of developing the international activities of Marsa Moroccoparticularly in the management of port and logistics projects in Africa. The creation of “Marsa Maroc International Logistics” is part of the new strategy adopted by the Supervisory Board on December 14, 2023. This aims to strengthen the international positioning of Marsa Maroc as an integrated player in the logistics supply chain. To do this, the company has put together a portfolio of investment opportunities including port projects, logistics and industrial partnerships, as well as a possible opening of its capital to new investors to strengthen its financial capacity.
Two new subsidiaries for strategic projects
As part of this strategy, “Marsa Maroc International Logistics” was authorized to create two new subsidiaries: Marsa Djibouti and Marsa Benin, which will carry out major projects in their respective regions.
- Marsa Djibouti: The main objective of this subsidiary is to participate in the capital of the company. Damerjog Oil Jetty FZEin charge of the development, equipment, operation and maintenance of the oil dock Ladies joglocated in the Free Zone of Djibouti. This strategic project, specializing in the storage and transshipment of petroleum products, will allow Marsa Maroc to strengthen its presence in East Africaparticularly targeting the markets Ethiopian et Djiboutianas well as those of the region as a whole.
- Marsa Benin: This subsidiary will be responsible for the management of berths 1 and 5 of the port of Cotonou, within the framework of a delegated management contract signed with the company. “Benin Manutentions SA Ports”. The creation of Marsa Beninapproved on September 10, 2024 by the Board of Directors of Marsa Maroc, aims to consolidate the presence of the company in West Africa and to contribute to the modernization and optimization of the region’s port infrastructure.
