The city of Agadir is preparing to celebrate Id Yennayer 2975, the Amazigh New Year, with a program rich in festivities from January 10 to 17. This event is part of the royal decision to establish January 14 as an official public holiday, highlighting the central place of Amazigh culture in Moroccan identity.
The celebrations will take place in 12 emblematic places in Agadir, including public squares, gardens and the promenades of Anza and Agadir. On the program: craft exhibitions, local products, thematic conferences on Amazighness and film screenings.
The artistic component promises great moments with musical evenings hosted by Amazigh stars on the stages of Tikiouine, Al Amal square and the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella. Visitors will also be able to discover Amazigh culinary traditions thanks to tasting stands located along the walks.
Organized in partnership with the Souss Massa Regional Council and the Timitar Festival Association, this event aims to position Agadir as a major tourist and cultural destination, while celebrating the richness and diversity of Amazigh heritage.
