CF Montreal: striker Matías Cóccaro was loaned to a Mexican club

CF Montreal announced that striker Matías Cóccaro has been loaned to Atlas FC, a club in Liga MX, of the Mexican first division, until the end of 2025.

The MLS team announced the news in a press release on Saturday morning.

The agreement includes a fee for the loan and a purchase option upon closing.

CF Montréal acquired Cóccaro on January 31, 2024 via a transfer from CA Huracán, an Argentine first division team.

In 22 regular season games with CF Montreal, Cóccaro made 10 starts for a total of 904 minutes of play. He scored four goals and added an assist.

Cóccaro also scored one goal in three League Cup matches.

A hope under contract

CF Montreal also announced that it had awarded a contract to midfielder Michael Adedokun for the 2025 season. The agreement also comes with three option years in 2026, 2027 and 2028. Adedokun was selected by CF Montreal in 13th place in the first round during the 2025 MLS draft, on December 20.

“We are happy that Michael is officially joining the group,” declared the president and CEO of CF Montreal, Gabriel Gervais, in a press release. He is a dynamic attacking midfielder with a strong goalscoring instinct, 1v1 skills and good creativity in the final third. We believe he is ready to take the next step in his career by continuing to progress with us. I also want to congratulate him on the MAC Hermann trophy. »

The Eruwa, Nigeria native on Friday won the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy, awarded to the NCAA Division 1 player of the year. Adedokun led the Ohio State Buckeyes with 11 goals and 11 assists this past season and helped his team win the 2024 Big Ten Tournament. He was also named to the First All-Star Team of the Big Ten.
