A study to evaluate priority criteria for nursery places

The Jura must consider priority criteria for access to nursery places. MP Quentin Haas (PCSI) recently submitted a postulate to request that a study in this direction be carried out. The Cornol elected official notes that daycare centers in the canton of Jura are facing a lack of places. According to him, the situation is all the more problematic since an increase in the price has taken place since last August as part of the Balance Plan intended to consolidate cantonal finances. Quentin Haas believes that the lack of available places in daycare limits the ability of parents to continue their work, particularly for single-parent families. Without local childcare solutions, some are even forced to review their professional plans, according to the PCSI MP. For Quentin Haas, the Jura must therefore – like cantons like Geneva – “propose prioritization of access to nursery places for employed parents”. The Cornol elected official specifies, however, that it is also necessary to “take into account other relevant criteria”. He cites the presence of siblings or the family situation, either a single parent or a couple. Quentin Haas therefore asks the Government to evaluate the implementation of priority criteria as well as their impact on the balance between professional and family life for working parents. He also wants the study he is requesting to analyze the feasibility of harmonized prioritization between the different reception structures in the canton. /comm-fco
