The Winnipeg Jets won their second duel in eight days against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday in the NHL (5-2). Nino Niederreiter and Roman Josi scored again after a long drought.
The two Swiss struck during the third period in Manitoba. Josi, decisive passer on the first reduction in the score of the Preds (37th Forsberg 3-1), brought his team back two lengths in the 50th minute while Winnipeg had regained a three-goal lead a little earlier. But ‘El Nino’ confirmed the success of the Canadian franchise with a goal in the empty cage (58th).
The two former teammates – Niederreiter played part of the 2022-23 season in Nashville – thus ended their period of 12 (Josi) and 13 matches without scoring a goal. Niederreiter is now at 11 goals this season (12 assists), Josi at 8 (19 assists).
Still leader of the Central division, Winnipeg is recovering after losing its first three matches of 2025. As for the Predators, who play in the same division, they are 25 points behind the Jets. A place in the play-off appears more and more illusory.
