Once Chrystia Freeland resigned, he would have received calls with dozens of Liberal MPs to take the place of Prime Minister, according to revelations from the Toronto StarFriday.
Remember that there were discussions between Mark Carney and Justin Trudeau so that the former high-ranking official would take the place of Minister of Finance in the Liberal government, according to several Canadian media.
This dialogue, however, would have stopped once Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland slammed the door on the day of the economic update.
Currently, the position of Minister of Finance is occupied by Dominic LeBlanc.
Note that Justin Trudeau is in the hot seat. In fact, during the holidays, the Liberal caucuses in Quebec, Ontario and the Atlantic all called for the departure of their leader.
The Prime Minister said he was still considering whether he will be present during the next campaign which will take place this year.
