He is Franco-Swiss, but in his life has never spent more than twenty-four hours in Geneva. What he regrets. Want to discover the City of Calvin, even if his paternal grandfather was from Valais. That day, he arrived mid-morning by TGV and left the next day at dawn. The Swiss Press Club invited him on the occasion of the International Day against Impunity for Crimes against Journalists. He will then give interviews to the UN. The harbor and its Jet d’eau, the Bains des Pâquis, the Saint-Pierre cathedral, the museums, that will be for another time.

We meet Thibaut Bruttin at the Château de Penthes, in Pregny-Chambesy, where the Swiss Press Club headed by Isabelle Falconnier has its headquarters. Thibaut Bruttin is the new director of Reporters Without Borders (RSF), a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1985 by four journalists. He succeeded Christophe Deloire, who died in June 2024 at the age of 53, a great figure in the press in , who was at the head of the organization for twelve years. “His disappearance has shocked us terribly. I joined RSF in 2014 as development manager. In 2018 I left because I was a little tired, but Christophe asked me a year later to come back to assist him. I accepted, because he had become a friend. I told him: OK, but for five years, no more. His sudden death changed everything. I was asked to continue his work. I couldn’t refuse in his memory.”
