Freshly recalled, Kirby Dach’s brother will make his NHL debut against CH

In Montreal, we have known Kirby Dach well for several years. The forward, who began his career with the Blackhawks, was traded to CH on draft night in 2022.

It was Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton’s first draft…and they put on quite a show.

However, what some may not know is that Dach has a younger brother who also plays hockey. And like the Xhekaj brothers in Montreal, the Blackhawks brought together the Dach brothers at the time, selecting Colton in the 2021 draft.

Kirby, however, was traded a year later… but Colton continued to work his way through the organization… and today, the Hawks announced that they called him back to join the big club.

So he will make his NHL debut tomorrow night… and it will happen while Kirby is in town.

Obviously, that’s enough cool to be able to face your brother for your very first NHL game. It obviously must have made Colton happy, but I imagine it also made Kirby happy, who will have the chance to share the moment with his younger brother.

The two guys actually had dinner together yesterday… and Colton broke the news to Kirby at that time.

So it’s a great story for the family, and for the occasion, Dad Dach will be in the stands, but the mother and sister of the two players will not be there. Both are in Europe, so they will not be able to be present.

At least his dad will be there…and Colton is confident his mom and sister will find a way to watch the game.

For those who are a little less familiar with Colton Dach, we are talking about a guy who, even if he is lighter than his brother, plays like a real power forward. He is not afraid to attack the net and he combines great physical strength with great skating.

In 30 games in the AHL this season, the 21-year-old winger has amassed 12 goals and 25 points.

At his team’s practice today, Colton was on his team’s second line and he was on the second wave of the power play. Basically, he’s already pretty much in the same position as his brother…

So we’ll see what Colton will be able to do against CH tomorrow, but having the opportunity to make your debut in the show facing your brother, it’s something that must be special for him (and for the brother, obviously).

Because I have the strange impression that it’s a little guy’s dream come true for the Dach brothers, all that.
