In a move aimed at boosting its strategic partnerships, Ethiopia is reaching out to Japanese investors. An initiative which is part of the economic reforms undertaken by the country and which demonstrates Addis Ababa’s desire to diversify its international partners.
Ethiopian Foreign Minister Dr. Gedion Timothewos received Japanese Ambassador Shibata Hironori on Thursday for a discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations and investment opportunities.
During this meeting, the head of Ethiopian diplomacy highlighted the “ centuries-old ties » uniting the two countries and particularly emphasized the economic potential that Ethiopia offers to Japanese investors.
The minister notably mentioned the economic reforms undertaken by his country, inviting Japanese companies to “ explore opportunities » which result from it. This invitation is part of Ethiopia’s strategy to attract foreign investment to support its economic growth.
The two diplomats reaffirmed their common desire to deepen this historic partnership, which could see a new lease of life thanks to the economic transformations underway in Ethiopia.
This meeting comes as Ethiopia continues its policy of economic openness and seeks to diversify its international partnerships to support its development.
