Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, aged 75, is due to undergo prostate surgery on Sunday, his office said on Saturday, in the midst of his country’s war against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Mr. Netanyahu underwent an examination on Wednesday at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, “where he was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection due to benign prostatic hypertrophy,” his teams said in a statement.
“The Prime Minister will therefore undergo prostate removal tomorrow (Sunday),” they added.
The Israeli leader had already had surgery for a hernia in March and underwent another operation in July 2023 for the implantation of a pacemaker.
