CHAN 2025: Senegal – Liberia (5 p.m.): The ticket for the qualifier goes to the local “Lions”!

For the return leg of the last round of the Chan 2025 qualifiers, the local national team of Senegal faces that of Liberia, this Saturday at 5 p.m., at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Diamniadio. Winners of the last edition, the local “Lions” who drew (1-1) in the first leg will have to get rid of the “Lone Star” to qualify and defend their title in East Africa.

This Saturday at 5 p.m., the Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Diamniadio will be the scene of an opposition which promises to be electric between the local national team of Senegal and that of Liberia, counting for the return match of the last round of the play-offs of the European Championship. Africa of Nations (Chan) 2025.

Indeed, held in check (1-1) during the first act played last week in Monrovia, the local “Lions” will this time try to extinguish the “Lone Star” and thus seize the qualifying ticket for this grand- mass of African which will be held from February 1 to 28, 2025 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. With this precious draw brought back from the Liberian capital, and especially the goal scored away, the men of coach Souleymane Diallo, therefore slightly advantaged, will be able to approach this “final” with less pressure than the visitors.

Thus, in front of their audience, the partners of Serigne Moctar Koïta will have to play hard to win in this duel or at least force the “Lone Star” to a goalless draw to qualify. From then on, we will especially have to count on good organization and flawless defensive solidity from the local “Lions” during this meeting. The Senegal team, reinforced with the arrival of the right side of Dakar SacréCœur, Daouda Bâ, and the attacker of Wally Daan, Moussa Diallo, has all the necessary weapons to eliminate Liberia again, as in 2022 during the Chan dams 2023.

But the visitors, vengeful after this episode which has undoubtedly stuck in their throats, will undoubtedly put all the chances on their side to surprise the reigning champions and qualify. For this meeting, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) has appointed a Guinean refereeing trio. This is Abdoulaye Manet who will be assisted by his colleagues, Sidiki Sidibé and Kollet Mamadou Mouctar Diallo. The fourth referee, Naby Laye Touré, is also Guinean. As for the match commissioner, it is the Malian Mamby Diaby who was chosen by Caf. Papa Alioune NDIAYE
