Pérez’s incredible decision with Santiago Bernabéu

Returning to the helm of Real Madrid in 2009, Florentino Pérez is enjoying an exceptional second mandate including six Champions Leagues (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2024). In addition to the sporting success, the Madrid boss also succeeded in his challenge of modernizing the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, even if it was necessary to play home matches for several months at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium. And regarding the legendary grounds of the White House, the 77-year-old leader would be on the verge of making a very strong new decision.

No more Santiago Bernabéu, hello to the Bernabéu!

Indeed, as revealed by Marca, the name of the stadium will no longer be Santiago Bernabéu but only Bernabéu. The reason? Purely marketing according to the Spanish media. A decision which risks going down badly with the supporters, who are very attached to the traditions and symbols of the club. For the moment, this is only visible in certain merchandising actions (stadium website, profile on social networks, the Bernabéu Tour, first tests carried out on the stadium facade in a model, glasses sold during concerts).

This surely with the aim of seeking a more modern image and a shorter nomenclature. This official change must, however, be validated by the Assembly of Members. To be continued.
