Several regions of southern Quebec are subject to a smog warning on Thursday.
Environment Canada issued an air quality warning bulletin for certain regions of southern Quebec on Thursday morning.
“High concentrations of pollutants are expected and will lead to poor air quality, particularly in urban areas where pollutant emissions are greater,” the federal agency said on its website.
Environment Canada recommends that children with asthma and people with respiratory or heart diseases avoid strenuous physical activities outdoors until the smog warning is lifted.
It specifies that wood heating is “the main source of fine particles which contribute to smog in winter”.
