In the early morning of Boxing Day, the Sherbrooke Police Department was arrested for a shirtless individual in crisis on Lallement Street.
When they arrived at the scene, the officers noticed that he was armed with a kitchen knife. He then takes refuge in a building.
“It was after several minutes of negotiations that the suspect, a 21-year-old man, known to the police, surrendered,” said spokesperson Isabelle Gendron in a press release.
The man in question will be charged with assault in the context of domestic violence and with uttering threats, it is indicated.
Other incident
Around 10:10 p.m., police responded to Bowen Street South for another man, this time 76 years old. He threatened to beat his partner, who was unable to take refuge elsewhere.
After securing the woman outside and trying to reason with the man, the police noticed that the individual was hiding a kitchen knife behind his back. He refused to collaborate.
“It was after several minutes of negotiations that the man who had no criminal history surrendered to the police,” notes Isabelle Gendron.
The septuagenarian will appear for armed assault and uttering threats.
