The city of Rufisque recently adopted its budget for the year 2025, an amount set at four billion nine hundred and thirty-nine million eight hundred and twenty-one thousand four hundred and thirty-eight CFA francs. This announcement took place on Saturday during an extended meeting which included the main forces of the community.
Oumar Cissé, the mayor of Rufisque, took this opportunity to discuss the current financial situation of the municipality. He stressed the importance of understanding the impact of this situation on the living conditions of residents. Quoted by the APS, Mr. Cissé declared that “local economic contribution” and “built land” are crucial for the proper functioning of the city.
He raised a striking example of the financial challenges: the CEL/VA, which amounted to 1.75 billion CFA francs in 2020, drastically fell to only 17 million CFA francs in 2024. This decrease illustrates the fiscal difficulties facing the city is facing, and could limit actions only to salaries and debts next year. However, Mr. Cissé remains determined to rectify this situation.
By expressing his desire for change, the mayor underlined the urgency of making Rufisque's financial situation viable. He announced innovations for his management in 2025, showing himself determined to pursue major projects. Finally, Mr. Cissé affirmed the need for support for his city by declaring: “We must be supported. We deserve to be supported,” according to comments reported by the APS.
