LR still demands guarantees from Bayrou, Wauquiez refuses a ministry

The Republicans are very close to entering François Bayrou's government, but are still waiting for guarantees from the Prime Minister. Laurent Wauquiez rejected a ministry proposal.

The Republicans are ready to support the government of François Bayrou but Laurent Wauquiez will not join, BFMTV learned this Saturday, December 21 in the evening.

The president of the LR group in the Senate, Mathieu Darnaud, and Laurent Wauquiez, leader of the National Right deputies in the Assembly, spoke this afternoon with François Bayrou. Gérard Larcher, President of the Senate, attended the discussions.

Wauquiez refuses Bercy

The LR group in the Assembly still has a reservation on the budget and taxation. The deputies are asking François Bayrou for a letter with details, and hope to obtain it this Sunday morning.

Laurent Wauquiez will not join the government. “We discussed my personal case. The only possible configuration for me was Bercy with a clear road map, in particular no tax increase.
