Ezio Simonelli, elected with 14 votes to the presidency of the League of A, yesterday sent a certified email to the councilors announcing his acceptance of the role after giving up roles at Mondadori, Mediaset and Fininvestincompatible with the new position. Silvio Berlusconi's historic accountant believes he has overcome the obstacle linked to eligibility with the declaration relating to his resignation as a member of the boards of auditors of the companies attributable to Monza. And he is ready to show up tomorrow at the Milan offices for the first day of work in the new role, even though the assembly has not yet proclaimed him.
The opposition of the (ex?) president Casini
Has calm returned to the League? No, why the president Lorenzo Casini and the councilors who did not vote for Simonelli they believe that the documentation sent is incomplete. To comply with art.14 of the statute, the manager should declare that they no longer have relationships of any kind with the associates, therefore also in the activity he carries out as an accountant: in this case Casini would be willing to cancel the meeting meeting on the 27th, set with the aim of verifying Simonelli's eligibility requirements. If it did not meet the requirements of the statute, the board would postpone the vote to the assembly.
In this context there are those who point out that the council would however not have executive powers but only consultative ones and it certainly could not override the opinion expressed by two-thirds of the presidents. On the other hand, there is no shortage of those (like Lotito) who would be ready to take legal action against the election of the manager. Simonelli is determined to come into the office tomorrowstrengthened by the recognition made public last night by Percassi, the current vice president: in the event that impediments arise that make it impossible for him to carry out his activity, he would turn to the federal prosecutor's office. Will he be the president called to reward the winner of the Super Cup in Arabia?
