Two people were discovered lifeless in a recently opened night grocery store in the city center, during the night of Saturday to Sunday, December 22. The victims are a 29-year-old man, probably the son of the manager of the establishment, and a woman, whose identity remains to be confirmed.
Originally from Marseille, the couple had just moved to the Var commune to take over the “Alimentation and Brunch” grocery store, located rue Marceau, between the port and Place Daniel-Perrin.
According to the first elements of the investigation, both were shot in the head. It was a neighbor who, after hearing screams, alerted the authorities. A large network, including national and municipal police and firefighters, was immediately deployed on site, accompanied by Lydie Onteniente, deputy mayor of La Seyne-sur-Mer.
Possible settlement of accounts
Cheikh Mansour, deputy delegate for security, spoke of a possible settling of scores. He considered taking measures to regulate the nighttime opening of certain businesses in the city center, due to the nuisance generated.
Furthermore, that same night in La Beaucaire, an individual was arrested in possession of 9 mm caliber ammunition and placed in police custody, although the link with the double homicide remains uncertain. This shocking incident leaves the local community in shock, while the investigation continues to elucidate the circumstances of this tragedy.
