SHARP DROP – Sergio Perez (in the photo above) leaves the Red Bull after four seasons and five victories: one obtained in 2021, two in 2022 and two in 2023. On paper the separation was consensual but in reality the decision was made following the drastic drop in performance of the Mexican pilot, who closed the 2024 season in eighth place with 152 points. Furthermore, “Checo” no longer had such good relationships within the team, both with Max Verstappen and the team leaders, namely Christian Horner and Helmut Marko.
AT RED BULL IT LOSES – It must be specified that the Mexican driver was offered a contract extension until 2026 in June 2024. The Milton Keynes team will most likely pay Pereze a generous severance pay. Sergio Perez is currently without an F1 seat after 14 years. With Perez’s exit, the Red Bull loses practically all the rich ones sponsorships linked to the presence of the Guadalajara pilot, such as the America Movil group, headed by Carlos Slim, Telcel. ARRIVA LAWSON – He arrives in Perez’s place Liam LawsonNew Zealand driver born in Hastings in February 2002. Lawson joined the Red Bull Academy in 2019the year in which he won the Toyota Racing Series having. In 2021 he is Dtm vice champion and in 2022 he gained his first experiences in F1 in Red Bull. In the 2023 he becomes vice-champion in the Japanese Super Formula and debuts in Formula 1 (13th in the Dutch GP with AlphaTauri). Overall, he has collected in the F1 world championship 11 gare with Alpha Tauri obtaining two ninth places as best result.
