The opening ceremony of the 10th edition of the Carthage Cinematographic Days in Prisons was organized on Sunday at the civil prison of Borj El Roumi, under the chairmanship of the Director General of Prisoners’ Affairs under the General Committee of Prisons and Prisons. of Reeducation (CGPR), Henda Testouri, in the presence of the Director General of the National Center for Cinema and Image, Lamia Belgaied Guiga and a number of senior officials from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the General Directorate of prisons and re-education.
According to a press release from the CGPR, a feature film entitled “Farha” by Jordanian director Darin Sallam was screened and attended by a group of inmates from Borj Roumi prison in the presence of the producer and director of the film. A debate was organized at the end of this screening between the director and the prisoners around the key themes raised during this feature film.
The festivities of the 10th JCC will continue in the prisons of Sers, Monastir, Gabès and Sfax and Nabeul. This edition will be punctuated by the screening of nine films from Tunisia, Jordan, Palestine and Algeria, four of which are feature-length fiction films, one feature-length documentary, one animated film, two short fiction films and one short documentary film.
A screening specially dedicated to children detained in re-education centers will also take place at the Cité de la Culture Chedli Klibi.
Still according to the same source, the DGPR reaffirmed its constant desire to implement the directives of the Ministry of Justice aimed at further devoting the right of persons detained in prisons and correctional units to the practice of cultural activity and to further strengthening scheduled cultural activities and programs.
