A Council of Ministers will be held on Wednesday December 11 with the resigning government, franceinfo learned from the entourage of the President of the Republic on Tuesday December 10. The bill will then be debated in the Assembly on Monday December 16 at 4 p.m., confirms the RN group to the franceinfo political service.

According to this same source, the special law which will allow the State to continue to finance public services in the absence of a finance law, due to the censorship of Michel Barnier's government last week, will be presented on the occasion of this Council of resigned ministers. A new Prime Minister will therefore not be appointed before then.

Concretely, this text will be authentic pending a new budget. The government that remains to be appointed will have to “prepare a new budget at the start of the year”, said Emmanuel Macron. The special law, renewed, extends what is being done in 2024, but does not allow new taxes to be added, nor to reduce this or that tax, even less to add expenses, or to allocate new credits to ministries. It is truly an emergency text, so that the State can continue to pay civil servants, to spend money, but within the limit of the appropriations provided for in the 2024 budget, not beyond.
