Controversial, the tool allowing the computer to remember All what the user is doing is clearly not relevant for the general public.
Pushed back sine the after significant security flaws were discovered, Recall has just made its comeback in beta version with a limited panel of users. Might as well write it: Microsoft still has a lot of work to do.

A dysfunctional tool
As a reminder, Recall is a tool that aims to remember All what you do on your computer. The idea being to be able to query artificial intelligence, for example on the different documents in which the word “topinambour” has been written. That’s in theory. Because in practice, people who have access to Recall today are at least mixed about its ability to be of any use.
Journalists from The Verge and CNBC share their struggles with the feature on social media, and the best thing is probably to laugh about it. Whether it’s because of interminable latency despite technical prerequisites being met, or more simply because of results that have nothing to do with the request being submitted, the fact is that Recall is definitely not ready to be deployed to the general public.
Originally, the feature was to be delivered with the latest version of Windows 11, 24H2, which has been available for a few weeks on compatible computers.
Service minimum
That the state of Recall is still so bad after months of reprieve questions Microsoft’s ability to release its tool before the next quarter. However, the brand made much of what it presented as a revolution last June.
Especially since even the American giant seems to have difficulty putting its finger on what is causing the problem. In a blog post, we can thus read most seriously that “if snapshots do not appear after 5 minutes” or that “Snapshot saving is enabled, but you notice that they are no longer saved”it is recommended… to restart your computer.
Post-it notes ultimately still have a bright future ahead of them.
