Crumpled paper found in a trash can
While Morgane Rivoal, 13, who has been missing for a week in Pabu (22), still cannot be found, Nicolas Heitz, public prosecutor of Saint-Brieuc, revealed this Monday at a press conference that a crumpled paper had been found in a basket. It said: “Dad, Mom, I’m sorry, I’m leaving.” Did a third person help her leave the family home? The investigation will have to determine this. In any case, the tracking dogs lost track of the young girl in the Castel Pic district, in Guingamp, located 2 km from the house. She may have gotten into a vehicle there.
Morgane was not seen at the bus stop
According to the prosecutor, on the morning of the disappearance, the girl's parents were busy getting ready. The latter said goodbye to them, “knowing that a parent-teacher meeting was planned for the same evening at the college”. The teenager, who usually takes the bus 300 m from her home to go to college, was not seen at the bus stop. “The driver, surprised not to see her, even waited a few minutes then left,” underlined Nicolas Heitz.
“A real discomfort”
Morgane is described as kind, shy and a good student. “Some have also noted a certain sadness in her,” continues Nicolas Heitz. It sometimes appeared that Morgane may have made worrying comments and could experience real discomfort. » Some of her comrades interviewed spoke of scarifications that she would have inflicted on herself.
On social media with adults
A few hours before the disappearance, an argument broke out between Morgane and her parents concerning an addiction to cell phones and social networks. Observation also made by a sports presenter. It was established by the gendarmes that Morgane came into contact with adults via sites on the internet. People who do not “all live in the region”. These people were questioned and their homes searched. “None of these hearings made it possible to provide relevant information on the location of the teenager,” said the prosecutor. On the phone of one of these men, photos of child pornography, not concerning Morgane, were found.
A thorough investigation
Morgane's two phones – the one broken by her father and an old device – were entrusted to the Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie of Pontoise (Oise). Other digital media are in the hands of Costa Rican investigators. Twenty-one video surveillance systems were consulted. In particular those at the Saint-Brieuc, Rennes and Brest stations, but not that of Guingamp, which does not have a device of this type. Social networks are closely monitored but no connection from Morgane has been detected since her disappearance.
Nearly 100 reports were collected by the gendarmes, leading to “systematic and in-depth checks”.
Open judicial information
On the eighth day of the disappearance, a judicial investigation was opened. An investigating judge was contacted to investigate the causes of Morgane's disappearance.
