Burglary in a dry cleaner: 5 million CFA francs taken

Five million CFA francs. This is the amount taken yesterday evening by a gang of around fifteen heavily armed thugs, from a dry cleaner, in the Grand-Standing district, opposite the Khadim Rassoul pharmacy, in the Thiès-Ouest commune.

The events occurred late in the evening, around 3 a.m. The criminals, in an unidentified vehicle, arrived and attacked the dry cleaner, before seizing the money in question.

Witnesses note that the burglars were heavily armed. As a result, any attempt at intervention by residents or passers-by would have been repressed by intimidation shots. The criminals were thus able to operate without being worried. They will escape in time before the arrival of the defense and security forces.

A situation which has caused great excitement in Grand-Standing, where residents fear for their safety in the face of the skyrocketing rise in organized crime in Thiès.
