China has unveiled draft guidelines aimed at modernizing its digital infrastructure, including the transition of its 5G network to the 5G-A standard and the development of 6G technology.
These guidelines, published by the National Data Office, aim to facilitate the secure and low-cost circulation of data on a large scale, local media report.
Subject to public consultation, the new guidelines also plan to encourage the exploration of new technological infrastructures such as blockchain, as well as an expansion of information channels by submarine and terrestrial cables, according to the same sources.

A satellite Internet system integrating space and terrestrial infrastructure will also be established.
The 5G-A network, already deployed in parts of Beijing and Shanghai, outperforms current 5G with download speeds reaching 10 gigabits per second and latency of one millisecond.
