Tianjin (China) – The Moroccan experience in vocational training, particularly through the Cities of Trades and Skills (CMC), was highlighted on Wednesday in the Chinese city of Tianjin by the director general of the Office of vocational training and labor promotion (OFPPT), Loubna Tricha.
Speaking at a seminar held as part of the World Conference on the Development of Vocational and Technical Education, Ms. Tricha reviewed the missions of the OFPPT and the Kingdom’s Roadmap for Vocational Training , presented before His Majesty King Mohammed VI in 2019.
She placed particular emphasis on the CMC, an innovative project carried out by the OFPPT which reflects a new vision inspired by the High Royal Guidelines, aiming to modernize and make professional training more attractive while adapting it to economic realities and integrating it into regional ecosystems.
The CMCs are skills development platforms that meet the specific needs of the economic fabric of the territories and regional ecosystems of the Kingdom, while offering quality training and programs adapted to strategic sectors such as automobile, aeronautics , agriculture, tourism, digital technology, health and renewable energies, she noted during this seminar organized at the initiative of the Sino-North African Association for Innovation in Education (SNAEIA).
Ms. Tricha specified that each region of Morocco already has a CMC or will soon have one, stressing that these structures are managed in collaboration with professionals, regional authorities and local stakeholders.
Thanks to their multi-sectoral and regional approach, the CMCs offer young people modern learning opportunities focused on professions of the future, thus strengthening the economic competitiveness of regions by training a qualified workforce adapted to the needs of local businesses, regional and international, she said.
She stressed that the success of the CMCs is based on national and international partnerships, specifying that the OFPPT collaborates for this purpose with various countries and institutions to enrich its expertise, strengthen its local capacities and support strategic sectors.
The Office is currently overseeing several international projects in various fields such as automotive, logistics, healthcare and digital and artificial intelligence, added Ms. Tricha, noting that these projects are implemented with the support of partner countries of Morocco, including China.
Collaborations between Morocco and China result in specialized programs in e-commerce and artificial intelligence, developed in partnership with the Tianjin College of Commerce and the SNAEIA, as well as the exchange of trainers and students, she explained.
For his part, Abdelilah Benhilal, president of the Moroccan Federation of Private Vocational Education, expressed the desire of the Moroccan side to strengthen its partnership with professional training establishments and Chinese universities.
This collaboration is manifested in several key areas, including the promotion of innovative study programs for Moroccan graduates from Chinese universities in priority sectors such as information technology, international trade, construction, tourism, healthcare health and logistics, he added.
Organized under the theme “Sino-North African international cooperation in terms of capacities and promotion of standards of excellence for vocational education”, this seminar was marked by the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between the OFPPT and the SNAEIA.
A dialogue session also took place between the ambassador of His Majesty the King to China, Abdelkader El Ansari, and leaders of Chinese professional training establishments.
This meeting focused on the prospects for human and cultural exchanges between China and Morocco, the dynamics of Chinese investments in the Kingdom, cooperation between the professional training institutes of the two countries, the training of Moroccan students in China, and strengthening Sino-Moroccan cooperation in the digital economy.
The World Conference on Vocational and Technical Education Development, which continues until Friday in Tianjin, brings together around 1,000 participants, including representatives of international organizations, vocational training bodies and industry associations.
