Comedian Pierre Palmade is on trial for the serious road accident that occurred in Seine-et-Marne in February 2023.
From prison. Wednesday November 20, at the end of the trial of Pierre Palmade, the Melun prosecutor's office requested 5 years in prison, including 2 years, for involuntary injuries aggravated after the serious road accident that occurred in Seine-et-Marne in February 2023, which left three people injured.
“We cannot be too lenient when the damage has occurred and driving under the influence of drugs has caused a tragedy,” declared prosecutor Marie-Denise Pichonnier.
“This consumption of narcotics should not justify the fault committed by Pierre Palmade, she also argued. The concern is this care which can be chaotic, it is to prevent the risk of recurrence. And it is also the desire to impose a sentence which must be understood by society.”
Nearly two years ago, Pierre Palmade seriously injured three members of the same family, including a child and a six-month pregnant woman who lost the baby she was carrying following the collision, in Villiers-en -Beer, in Seine-et-Marne.
Palmade tried for “aggravated involuntary injuries”
Tried for “aggravated involuntary injuries”, the actor could have been for “involuntary manslaughter”, the pregnant woman having lost her baby in the accident. Asked about the possibility of appearing for “manslaughter”, Pierre Palmade refused, saying he was “overwhelmed by the question” on the legislation concerning the recognition of the legal status of a fetus.
“When you lose a kid, there are no words. When you lose a fetus, there is no law,” summarizes the prosecutor.
“When she was born, I was in total denial. For me, I had just given birth. Solin, I had carried her in my arms. For me, she was sleeping (…) I thought that she was going to be taken care of,” accident victim Mila told the court in tears.
“I would like to ask them for forgiveness. I think they don't want to, but I would like to,” declared Pierre Palmade at the court. “I will always have this baby on my conscience. Because for me, it’s a baby,” he added, specifying that he “stands” behind his lawyer.
Pierre Palmade, who risked up to 14 years in prison and a fine of 200,000 euros, will have ten days to appeal after his conviction is pronounced.
