Marine Le Pen says the RN will vote for censure against the Barnier government “if the purchasing power of the French is cut” by the budget

The National Rally (RN) will vote, with the left, on a motion of censure against the government of Michel Barnier “if the purchasing power of the French is reduced” by the budget, declared Marine Le Pen, Wednesday November 20.

“It’s a red line. And if this red line is indeed crossed, well we will vote for censorship” in the event that the government resorts to 49.3 to try to have its budget adopted, the president of the RN group in the National Assembly said on RTL.

“The problem is not 49.3”justified Marine Le Pen, who announced that she would be received on Monday by the Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, which apparently was not enough to appease her. “Will Mr. Barnier respect the commitment he made to ensure that opposition groups can recognize elements in his budget that appear essential to them?she asked herself. Our elements were not to increase taxes on individuals, on entrepreneurs, not to make retirees pay, to make structural savings on State spending. However, we were not heard. »

A government “under surveillance” of the RN

RN deputies could censor the government with the left in December, when the budget is returned to the National Assembly. Mr Barnier confirmed that he would engage ” probably “ the responsibility of its government by triggering article 49.3 of the Constitution, which allows adoption of the text without a vote.

Barely entering Matignon on September 5, the Prime Minister had been placed “under surveillance” by the far-right party. The RN justified the reprieve granted to Mr. Barnier by a concern for “stability of institutions” and the fear that his fall will bring about a prime minister even more unfavorable to the far right. Arguments that are more difficult every day to defend with voters wanting to bring down the executive, and to which elected officials cannot currently relate any of the “trophies” programmatic that Mme Le Pen promised to win from Matignon.
