In response to an oral question to the House of Councilors, Nizar Baraka explained the device adopted by his department to ensure thewater supply this summer. “We have been working proactively to address the problem of water shortage. We had fears about water cuts during’Aïd Al-Adha due to the scarcity of precipitation and the rate of filling of dams located around 30%, but this situation has been overcome,” he indicated.

Moreover, Baraka mentioned several emergency measures for this summer, in particular the acceleration of the pace of barrages and the acquisition of 204 mobile units for desalination and demineralization of brackish waterin collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior. He also stressed the importance of production nationalenoting that meetings were organized with all stakeholders in theindustry to ensure sufficient water supply.

The minister also mentioned the connection project of the El Jadida desalination plant with the surrounding regions of Casablanca to ensure their water supply and prevent shortages. He reported a problem with the company responsible for supplying the water, which was late in delivering the motors needed for the water transport. “This delay will affect residents, but we have been working for six months to manage this situation,” he said.
