Released in a legal case, a 22-year-old man who asked in an aggressive tone to around fifteen people to attack the police was arrested very early Sunday in Sherbrooke, in Estrie.

That morning, officers from the Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) were patrolling near Whiting Lane when they noticed, around 3 a.m., the suspect near Wellington Street North with several people.

The individual in question, who was recently in detention for the purpose of investigation, harangued more than fifteen people who immediately surrounded the police.

“While the police are arresting the suspect, several people charge our agents,” said SPS public relations officer Martin Carrier.

The police, who had to use their cayenne pepper spray in order to “repel the hostile and aggressive crowd”, made three arrests.

The 22-year-old man who was arrested on the spot will face charges of obstructing police officers and assaulting police officers.

Two other 21-year-old individuals “were arrested according to municipal regulations and will receive tickets,” said Sherbrooke police.
