The new constitution proposed by the transitional authorities in Gabon was adopted by 91.80% of the votes during the referendum organized on Saturday, according to provisional results published Sunday evening by the Ministry of the Interior.

The Gabonese people adopted the new constitution by 91.80%, announced the Minister of the Interior, Hermann Immongault, adding that the participation rate reached 53.54%.

More than 850,000 Gabonese voters went to the polls on Saturday to vote on the draft of the new Constitution. This constitutional referendum is the final stage of the inclusive national dialogue launched last April.

This electoral deadline, which is part of the timetable established by the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions, represents a major step towards the return to normal constitutional order and the organization of free and transparent presidential elections. , according to the transition authorities.
