The emergency call point may have saved his life. A person detained and threatened by an armed individual on Sunday afternoon in a parking lot in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) managed to alert the police using a terminal, the city's mayor Christian Estrosi said on his X account.
According to information from BFMTV, the events took place around 5:15 p.m. on Boulevard Grosso, a few hundred meters from the city center. “Our municipal police stand out again this evening for their professionalism and composure,” wrote the elected official on the social network.
“Alerted by the triggering of an emergency call point reporting the presence of an armed individual in a private parking lot, the courage of our agents made it possible to bring to safety a person threatened and held by this individual,” said he continued.
The armed individual “killed himself” when the police arrived, also indicates Christian Estrosi. The mayor of Nice will hold a press conference on Monday at 12:15 p.m. to give more details on this matter.
