Political barometer: Mélenchon exceeded, Macron erased

Jean-Luc Mélenchon is no longer the best opponent on the left. The European effect continues for Raphaël Glucksmann, who topped the left-wing lists. The rating of the leader of the socialists takes off in the Ipsos political barometer for La Tribune Dimanche: he gains 8 points in one month and surpasses the rebels François Ruffin and Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

The MEP also appears in this same study as better presidential candidate (23%) than Jean-Luc Mélenchon (16%). The two men on the left, however, remain far from the top of the ranking of personalities aiming to become President of the Republic.

With 5 more points, Édouard Philippe (36%) takes first place from Jordan Bardella (33%) and is clearly ahead of Marine Le Pen (31%). Behind, Gabriel Attal resists the depression of his camp and gains 5 points. Just like Gérald Darmanin, who is doing rather well and appears in fifth place in this list.

Survey

In terms of popularity of the executive, Emmanuel Macron is paying the bill for the defeat in the European elections and a dissolution of the Assembly which has plunged his camp into abysmal perplexity. The head of state lost 4 points (28%). Its unpopularity therefore breaks records with 68%. If its rating increases among RN (+2) and LFI (+2) supporters, too happy with the dissolution, it plummets among the socialists (-12), the ecologists (-4), the LR (-12) and among Renaissance, Horizons and MoDem voters (-9). Conversely, the popularity of Gabriel Attal holds up the shock with 40% (+1) and exceeds that of the president among Renaissance supporters, with 84% of positive judgments (+7) against 75%.

* Compared to the May barometer. IPSOS survey for La Tribune Dimanche carried out on June 19 and 20, 2024 among a representative sample of 1,000 people aged 18 and over residing in mainland France.
