A year later… and still no passport office

Anthony Dallaire | November 14, 2024

Sébastien Lemire bares his fangs against the federal government.

The Bloc MP judges that the population of the region is being taken hostage in the matter of establishing a regional passport office in Rouyn-Noranda.

You should know that the closest office is that of Gatineau which is 600 kilometers away.

For him, the government is showing bad faith in the matter, since all the equipment would already be in place, but a software problem would be the cause of the delay.

A delay that has lasted since September 18, 2023, or more than a year.

It is unacceptable, according to him, to always force citizens to travel long distances and to assume additional costs to obtain their document.
