Monica Mazzei, co-founder of Edra: “All our furniture has its own poetics”

In the vast landscape of contemporary furniture that makes up our interiors, most of the pieces from the Italian publisher Edra leave no stone unturned. This is the case, for example, of the Pack sofa with the proportions of a piece of ice floe, in the center of which lies a polar bear. His body, covered in faux fur, acts as a backrest, supports, embraces and welcomes, while making you think… Is it possible to lean against him carelessly while your existence is in danger? There is also Cabana, this tower covered with raffia threads, a sort of secret shelf, evoking an African marabout or an Amazonian shaman ready to begin a dance. Or the Favela armchair, constructed from tangles of randomly hand-nailed pine strips, making each piece of furniture unique. The Tuscan company has been feeding this atypical universe for nearly forty years by focusing on creative talents but also artisanal know-how and technological advances. As explained by Monica Mazzei, vice-president and co-founder of Edra with her brother Valerio.
