Fort de Chambly was used during the new reality game show Traitors. A choice far from trivial, explains producer David Gauthier, originally from Chambly.
For David Gauthier, resident of Chambly, Fort Chambly was almost an obvious choice for filming an episode of the first season of the reality game Traitors. “It is entirely in the spirit of the show,” assures the producer. We shoot in castles, like usually the Mont-Saint-Hilaire manor. We are far from technology and the atmosphere is closer to Agatha Christie. »
In this investigation game, a group of around twenty people must find three cheaters among them to get hold of the $100,000 at stake. “The goal is to stay in the game until the end,” explains the Chamblyen. . To do this, you must carry out a mission each time you broadcast. » Thus, a scenario emerged thanks to Fort Chambly. “The participants had to save two candidate prisoners,” continues David Gauthier. Also, the building allowed us to imagine a catapult to collect the keys during the game.”
In light of this success, the Chamblyen plans to return to Fort Chambly for a new experience. Maybe during season 2, which is scheduled to film in a month? “We try to capture the imagination with each show. The mission can take place in a chapel, in the fields or even on a train. We play on certain fears by adding mystery. For this, Fort de Chambly stands out very well thanks also to its nearby body of water. We try to target historical monuments surrounded by nature. We would like to one day be able to film at Fort Lennox. »
Respect for spectators
The filming attracted a few curious people. David Gauthier has fun with it. “I’ve been doing reality TV for twenty years and I was particularly happy to be able to film in my city. We didn’t close the site during filming and people watched the show quietly, everything happened with respect. »
As filming for the last show of this first season looms, the producer is happy with the concept. “We invited lawyers, detectives, psychologists and other special profiles to participate in this show. They deal with lies on a daily basis and it’s quite interesting to see their thoughts when confronted with it. »
