Morocco’s participation in Denkmal, the first Arab and African country to take part in this European center for heritage preservation, represents an opportunity to promote the Kingdom’s thousand-year-old heritage as well as its know-how in innovation and technology. sustainable, said, Saturday in Leipzig, the Moroccan ambassador to Germany, Ms. Zohour Alaoui.

During her visit to the Moroccan pavilion at the Denkmal at the Leipziger Messe, Ms. Alaoui highlighted the importance for Moroccan professionals and artisans to share, with European and international participants, the richness of Morocco’s architectural heritage, which stands out through traditional know-how, vernacular processes and sustainable construction techniques.

According to Ms. Alaoui, the relevance of Morocco’s participation in this event lies, on the one hand, in the Kingdom’s commitment to the preservation and rehabilitation of its heritage, in accordance with the enlightened Vision of His Majesty the King. On the other hand, it is part of the context of climate challenges and their repercussions on populations, which require resilient construction techniques adapted to climate change, promoting modern methods, respectful of the environment and integrating technologies innovative.

The diplomat also highlighted the cultural diversity and techniques of Moroccan architectural art, nourished by several influences, as well as the capacity of Moroccan craftsmen and professionals to integrate new construction technologies. In this regard, Ms. Alaoui welcomed the new avenues of cooperation in the preservation and restoration of heritage between Moroccan artisans and professionals and their European counterparts, which will contribute to strengthening the presence of Moroccan culture internationally. Morocco stood out at Denkmal with a pavilion in the shape of a life-size kasbah, designed in terracotta and respecting ecological construction techniques. Overlooking the Show, the Denkmal kasbah has become an essential crossing point for visitors and exhibitors alike, arousing both curiosity and fascination.

It should be noted that Morocco was in the spotlight during the 2024 edition of the Denkmal European Exhibition, which took place from November 7 to 9 in Leipzig. Dedicated to the preservation, restoration and renovation of old buildings, the Show welcomed a large Moroccan delegation made up of architects, experts, design and control offices, as well as university professors.
