identity and anti-fascists challenge each other from a distance

The parade of identity activists Des et des Lys caused a lot of ink to flow on November 11, 2023. About ten years after the parades of the Vox Populi group, this ultra-right demonstration in the glory of Saint Martin caused astonishment of Tourangeaux.

This Saturday, November 9, 2024, the small group did it again, parading from 7:30 p.m., from Tours Cathedral for a journey through the city. “Our pride is our identity”chanted around 150 demonstrators, some holding torches in their hands. A procession supervised by a security service specific to the small group.

An important police force

Anti-fascist activists, warned in advance of this new irruption of Touraine identitarians, had called for a rally, also this Saturday evening, at Place du Monstre.

Significant resources were deployed by the national police to prevent the two groups from crossing paths.

The procession of identity activists went up Rue Nationale, crisscrossed Vieux-Tours in front of stunned onlookers, before arriving at the Saint-Martin basilica. The anti-fascists were then a stone's throw away but they were kept at a distance to avoid clashes.
