Morocco was re-elected, in the person of Ambassador El Hassane Zahid, Friday in New York, member of the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) of the United Nations, for a new four-year term, which will begin on January 1, 2025, indicates a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad.
This re-election illustrates the recognition and confidence of UN member states in the constant commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco to multilateralism. Through this re-election, Morocco reaffirms its role as a reliable partner in the consolidation of the principles of international cooperation and dialogue within the United Nations.
This distinction also testifies to the positive impact of the Kingdom’s efforts to promote high standards in human resources management within the United Nations system and in international governance in general.
The Kingdom’s involvement in global governance institutions reflects Morocco’s desire, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, to position itself as a defender of universal principles, while implementing policies that promote sustainable development, the development of human resources and the consolidation of international peace and security.
Expert at the Policy Center for the New South and member of the International Civil Service Commission since 1997, El Hassane Zahid was previously Ambassador to Thailand of His Majesty the King, with accreditation to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam from December 2003 to July 2010.
The International Civil Service Commission is a key body of the United Nations system, composed of independent experts elected by the UN General Assembly. It is responsible for regulating the conditions of service of staff within the United Nations common system and promoting high standards in the international civil service.
