The Minister of Information and Digitalization, Moses Kunkuyu, who is also a member of the funeral service, announced that the body of the late vice-president would be transported on Friday June 14 from the morgue to the Catholic parish of St. Patrick in Lilongwe for a mass. He will then be transported to the Civo stadium in the city to allow the public to pay tribute to him before being buried in his village next Monday June 17.

The burial of the country’s former First Lady, Patricia Shanil Dzimbiri, who died at the same time as Mr. Chilima and seven other passengers, will take place on Friday June 14 in her native village, Balaka, 220 km south of Lilongwe.

The minister affirmed that an investigation would be opened into the causes of the accident despite the bad weather conditions.
