Adji Mergane Kanouté will support the Pastef party for the early legislative elections on November 17. Since yesterday, it has been the most commented on news in the country, with stunned reactions from citizens surprised by this political transhumance. Like Déthié Fall, she will vote against the list on which she is nominated: 24th on Takku Wallu Senegaal led by Macky Sall. How does Benno’s ex-MP justify her support for the ruling party? The inauguration of Mr. Alla Kane, president of Maggi Pastef, who is a “father to her”, and also his position on the Takku list (24th). Probably the second explanation with a low probability that she will be elected to this position? Who would have believed it?
In any case, the departure of the president of the Union for the Development of Authentic Senegal (Uds/A) constitutes a political shock. Not for her political weight which is undoubtedly light, particularly in Kaolack where she campaigns. But, her positions during the last moments of Benno’s mandate of which she was one of the last defenders in the midst of a political-electoral storm.
After the decision to postpone the Presidential election by Macky Sall, the voices to defend this decision had become extremely rare in the presidential space where the leaders sensed the end of the reign, preferring to refrain from defending the postponement and the extension of the presidential mandate. She thus formed a “couple” with Abdou Mbow to defend the project. Vice-president of the Parliamentary Group, Ms. Kanouté was on the TV sets, in the Hemicycle to provide after-sales service given the unpopularity of the decision later rejected by the Constitutional Council.
After this parenthesis, she reformed the duo with Abdou Mbow after Sonko’s refusal to come and make his General Political Declaration in front of the deputies. Until the motion of censure aborted in the bud by President Faye who dissolved the National Assembly before calling early elections for November 17.
