Among alternative mobile OSes, there is Ubuntu Touch. It defines itself as a secure and free OS. It is supported by UBports Foundation which distributes the OTA-6 update. The OS is based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. This update should improve the stability of wireless connections, support the latest Android HAL (Hardware Abstraction layer) and offer developers a wider range of smartphones carrying Ubuntu Touch. This version also includes numerous security fixes.
Note that the team decided at the last minute to withdraw support for VoLTE following the discovery of bugs.

For the main models, the project indicates which functions are available or not. Sometimes there is a big difference. For example, the Fairphone 4 is fully supported. On the PinePhone, support is limited.
