series, films, prices, Olympics… everything you need to know about the HBO and Discovery+ platform launched today

STREAMING – And one more. The Max streaming platform, merger of HBO Max and Discovery+, home of prestigious HBO series and blockbusters from Warner studios, is now accessible In France. Max had promised that it would be before the Paris Olympic Games, so it was done. And it is also on this platform that new subscribers will be able to discover season 2 of House of the Dragon.

It is since Tuesday June 11 that the French have been able to subscribe to Max. To do this, three prices are offered to them, which do not differ radically from those charged by its competitors such as Netflix, Appletv+, Disney+, Prime Video or Paramount+.

• The offer “Basic” at 5.99 euros per month offers viewing on two simultaneous screens but with advertising.
• The offer ” Standard “ at 9.99 euros per month also offers reading on two simultaneous screens, without advertising this time and with the possibility of downloading 30 contents and accessing linear channels (TCM Cinéma, Adult Swim, CNN, Cartoon Network and Discovery ).
• The offer “Premium” at 13.99 euros per month offers superior image and sound quality with 4K HDR quality and Dolby Atmos, in addition to playback on four simultaneous screens and access to linear channels.

The platform has also signed agreements with two broadcasters: with Canal+ which offers Max at no extra cost for the majority of subscribers, but also Prime Video for 9.99 euros more per month.

Max’s plethora of sports offerings

One of the three pillars of the new platform is sports. As in the United States, where Max was launched last May, the new platform also broadcasts live programs in Europe, particularly sports, via the Eurosport portfolio. This offer with additional subscription allows subscribers to follow the Grand Slam tennis tournaments (excluding Roland-Garros), the three Grand Tours of cycling, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and all the major winter sports world championships. It’s about a “Sport option” which costs subscribers an additional 5 euros per month.

In addition, Max will offer its subscribers the opportunity to follow all of the events during the Paris Olympic Games, even without the sports option. Eurosport being the paid broadcaster of the Olympic Games, the platform will offer up to 62 simultaneous streams and thousands of hours of live broadcasts, events and analysis sessions with consultants.

Max’s giant catalog for series

The two other pillars of the streaming platform are series (WB and HBO) and films (Warner). Max’s catalog will therefore allow binge watcher subscribers:

• Cult HBO series like Game of Thrones, The Last of UsSuccession, The White Lotus, Euphoria, Big Little Lies, True Detective: Night Country, The Wire.

• Cult Warner series like Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, Gossip Girl, Smallville, Gotham Or Arrow.
• HBO Max Originals series like And just like that, The Nevers, The Sympathizer, Peacemaker, Our flag means death.
• New features to come from its franchises and in particular The Penguin with Colin Farrell, Welcome to Derry with Bill Skarsgård, Dune Prophecy with Travis Fimmel, or the future series Harry Potter.
• Original French creations: the series Merteuil adapted from Dangerous Liaisonsthe docu-series Now or never: FC Montfermeil, la series A Devoted Friend adapted from the book The Mythomaniac of the Bataclanseries Malditos, or even comedy series Living with our dead adapted from the book by Delphine Horvilleur.

Max is banking on the Harry Potter films but not only

• All the films in the universe Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, the saga Matrixor even superhero films DC Superman, Batman, Joker, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Blade Runner, Interstellar And Inception by Christopher Nolan, Mad Max: Fury Road, and the rest of the gigantic Warner catalog, as well as numerous “cult” French long-length films.
• An offer of cartoons for children and adults also completes the catalog, as well as Discovery documentaries, and dedicated channels.

With this competitive offer, Max hopes to quickly carve out a place in the top 3 in France, currently occupied by Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+.
