Infraweek 2024 placed Morocco in the spotlight during its inaugural day, reflecting the strengthening of Franco-Moroccan ties after Emmanuel Macron’s state visit.

Mohamed Benchaâboun, Director General of the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, underlined the importance of private financing for the development of Morocco, particularly through the “Morocco- Investment Accelerator”, a partnership with French institutions. Ali Seddiki, Director of AMDIE and Othman Tlemcani of INNOVX presented the pipeline of Moroccan infrastructure projects affecting several areas, paving the way for increased cooperation with France.

The Paris Infraweek 2024organized by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, in partnership with Paris Europlace, opened its doors this Tuesday, November 4, placing Morocco in the spotlight.

Indeed, during the inaugural day, the theme of “ Decarbonization infrastructure: What new partnerships between France and Morocco » was selected, illustrating the dynamism of bilateral cooperation in the strategic sector of sustainable infrastructure, particularly following the successful state visit of the French President from October 28 to 30.

Known for attracting investment leaders, public institutions and international companies, the Paris Infraweek dedicated to infrastructure aims to respond to the challenges of the ecological and digital transition by bringing together the most influential players on the international scene.

A changing Morocco-France cooperation

Interventions from key figures such as M. Mohamed BenchaâbounDirector General of the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, and M. Ali SeddikiDirector General of the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), highlighted the ongoing transformations and the promising prospects for strengthening economic ties between Morocco and France.

In his presentation, Mr. Benchaâboun insisted on the importance of mobilizing private financing, both domestic and international, to support Morocco’s ambitions in terms of sustainable infrastructure. The project of“Morocco-France Investment Accelerator», signed between the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, Bpifrance, the French Development Agency (AFD), Proparco, Expertise France and STOA Infra & Energy, embodies this commitment. This is an innovative partnership model, aimed at accelerating investments in structuring projects, particularly those linked to decarbonization and renewable energies.

AMDIE and the prospects for the development of Moroccan infrastructure

For his part, Mr. Ali Seddiki presented Morocco’s pipeline of infrastructure projects, encompassing various sectors such as renewable energies, mobility, transport, and digital transformation. In resonance with the digital strategy Morocco 2030he highlighted the potential synergies between Moroccan and French actors, which could accelerate the development of new generation infrastructures adapted to climate and digital challenges.

InnovX: a catalyst of opportunities for infrastructure projects in Morocco

Othman Tlemcani, Director of Financing and Participation Monitoring at InnovX, also presented a vast set of projects in development in Morocco, thus offering international investors opportunities to contribute to their realization.

A French ecosystem mobilized to support Morocco

This event also brought together the entire French infrastructure financing ecosystem, with players ready to get involved in Morocco’s major structuring projects. This cooperation once again illustrates the desire of the two countries to build sustainable and resilient infrastructure, in line with the imperatives of the ecological transition.

Paris Infraweek, which will run until November 8, promises to offer further opportunities for dialogue and partnership.
