Switzerland is experiencing an increase in cyber threats. Since its creation at the start of the year, the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (OFCS) has received on average one announcement every eight and a half minutes. He has noticed a very sharp increase in fraud attempts.

During the first six months of this year, 34,789 incidents were recorded, the OFCS said on Thursday when publishing its biannual report. This corresponds to almost twice as many announcements as those recorded last year, over the same period.

As in previous years, cases of fraud, phishing and spam continue to dominate the ranking of cyber incidents. The number of attempted scams has increased, with 23,104 cases reported. This constitutes two thirds of all ads.

The phenomenon of false telephone calls allegedly from the authorities is particularly striking, according to the OFCS. A significant increase in cases has also been observed regarding phishing emails.
